LASIK Eye Surgery

See A Whole New World

Archive for the ‘lasik vision’ Category

I had Lasik about two days ago. At first it was hard to open my eyes, but now I can see out of it. Although my vision has improved in the eye, it looks like Im in a room filled with smoke. Everything seems clear, but very hazy. They said my vision was supposed to be good in 48 hours, and its been that long. Does this go away, because maybe I was better with contacts. Did I screw myself?

No I’m sure it will be ok. They said your vision would be becoming good in 48 hours, but noone really expects to wake up and be all better overnight. You can see, so that’s probably what they mean

I’d say wait a week, don’t drive etc and if you don’t notice an improvement then, ring them

I have just began thinking about the possibility of LASIK. I’ve been told I need "moderate" vision correction. My eyes are identical with spheres of 3.50 and cylinders of -1.00. How does LASIK compare to glasses/contact for getting the best eyesight? Is it a lot more precise? A lot less? About the same? I’m interested in any info at all. Thank you!

I hope this information maybe useful to you.

Within the past 6 months my vision has gone from 20/20 in boths eyes to 20/70 in the right eye and 20/110 in the left eye. I visited the optometrist and they told me i should get glasses. I was wondering if I can avoid surgery and corrective lenses by eating certain foods or doing certain eye exercises. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The answer is simple, no. You’ll have to wear glasses or contacts..sorry! A side note, carrots are good for the eyes, but, wont correct your vision, just good for eye health.

http://www.edow.com – Myopia(nearsightedness)is the inability to clearly see from a distance. Refractive surgery or LASIK can correct this refractive error by re-sculpting the cornea, flattening it so that light can focus on the retina accurately.

As dry eyes are a common side effect of Lasik eye surgery, does it help to stay hydrated and eat healthy (fruits, veggies more than salties and meats)?

How long does the side effects usually last?

Hydrated is good, yes, and healthy eating is always beneficial. You might need to get some over the counter eye drops also. Call your eye doctor to find out what the best kind is.

Wavefront LASIK, also called Custom LASIK, is a relatively new innovation in laser vision surgery. This process has vastly improved the way eye surgery is performed and has enabled your ophthalmologist to correct problems with your vision that were previously unfixable.

Wavefront technology takes 3D images of your eye to help guide in the reshaping process of your cornea. This affords ophthalmologists an ability to achieve a higher degree of precision in surgical corrections than was ever possible in the past.

While glasses, contact lenses, and older LASIK procedures could only correct for lower order aberrations (myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism), wavefront technology has the ability to correct for higher order aberrations (halos, glare, shadows, blurry images) as well.

Benefits

Wavefront LASIK improves more than just your standard vision as measured by your prescription. It also enhances your contrast sensitivity and fine detail, making this procedure vastly superior to more traditional LASIK options. As a result, night vision improvements are much more extensive than what was previously possible.

You also have a lower risk of post-LASIK complications with wavefront.

Wavefront LASIK offers you the following improvements in the quality of your vision correction surgery:

·         Greater chance of achieving 20/20 vision

·         Reduced chance of deterioration of your newly corrected vision

·         Reduced chance of losing visual quality or contrast sensitivity

·         Decrease in complications and night vision issues

At this time, most eye surgeons are using wavefront technology in their practices. Currently, 74% of LASIK surgeons use wavefront, a sharp increase from 2003 when only about 10% used this technology.

How it Works

A wavefront device shoots a ray of light into your eye. This light reflects off your retina and returns to the device through your pupil. The wavefront device then arranges the light ray in a format that conveys both your lower and higher order aberrations.

These irregularities in your eye are shown in the form of a 3D map. The information from this map gets electronically transmitted to the laser used to operate on your eye. This provides for a procedure completely customized to the unique characteristics and intricacies of your eyes.

Wavefront is currently considerably more expensive than traditional LASIK procedures, but the benefits and advantages of this process seem to indicate that it is well worth the extra money.

My surgery was performed by Park Avenue Laser Vision. The surgery was performed on 2/21/08 by Dr. Emil Chynn. This is the newest, bladeless, flapless laser procedure (called LASEK, not LASIK) and I am now seeing 20/30, just 3 weeks after the surgery.
Dr. Chynn was the first doctor in NY to perform lasik procedures, and has since performed over 11000 with no lawsuits or settlements. I would highly recommend going to Dr. Chynn if you live in the tri-state area! 212-741-8628 www.Parkavenuelaser.com or email Dr@parkavenuelaser.com
